My Oh-So-Natural Everyday Makeup Look

As of late, many of you have been commenting on my "natural look" on Instagram. And, I have to say, I'm really flattered!

Growing up playing sports, I was never a HUGE makeup person. I loved eyeliner, mascara and blush, but that was pretty much it. Even when contouring began popularizing as a fad, I didn't have too much interest. Don't get me wrong—I think contouring is beautiful. It's really amazing how some people can change the look of their face with just some powder and a brush. But, for me, it's just not feasible.

I'm an extremely busy person between working a full-time job, running this blog, and still trying to live a life. Not to mention that I absolutely love sleep. I am, by no means, an early riser. Pretty much the only three things that can get me out of bed before 9 a.m. are work, yoga and travel. Other than that, you're out of luck.

But, because of this, it has turned into a bad habit to snooze my alarm clock one too many times—which, of course, leads to not having enough time to get ready in the morning. I hardly ever "do" my hair, and if I manage to, it's at night. As for my makeup? Minimal at-best.

It's come to my realization that there aren't too many published routines out there for the people like me, so, if you relate to this (or if you've been loving my look lately), here's my very quick morning routine during the week.

7:30 a.m.

I try to not wake up any later than this, but it's a hit-or-miss depending on the week. For instance, today I woke up at 8 a.m. (I have to leave no later than 8:30 to get to work on-time).

To start my morning, I splash my face with cold water. It's a habit I've had since high school, but it also tightens your pores. Next, I use a large roller that I keep in the freezer to get any swelling out of my face. It's a fairly fast process with one swoop over each part of my face. I LOVE doing this under my eyes as it really helps to de-puff! I bought mine on Amazon ($10.99).

Before getting dressed, I like to moisturize my skin with a daily serum. My newest favorite is the Kiehls Daily Reviving Concentrate ($73). Once patting that in, I finish off with Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream ($29.50), and Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Créme ($38). I am not kidding you when I say that these products really make-or-break my morning complexion. My skin always looks (and feels) so soft after using!

Once done, I move on to get dressed. I don't like applying makeup right after doing this because I want all of the products to really sink into my face.

This timing truly depends on how organized I am the day before. Sometimes, I am inspired enough to put an outfit out, but if not, it takes a little while to create an ensemble appropriate for the day. After doing so, I change, brush my hair with a comb, and continue with makeup.

I don't like wearing foundation unless I have an event. I just feel like it clogs my pores, and I always find that I have little breakouts after using too much. Because of this, my normal day-to-day makeup routine is without it. Instead, I focus on lightening and brightening.

First, I use IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealing Pot in Medium. I like to use a concealer brush, but also finish it off with a gentle pat from my ring finger to make sure it is all set. This, combined with my eye cream, makes my under eye darkness no more.

Next, I use a swipe of Glossier Haloscope. Right now, I am using it in topaz, but during the winter, I tend to do a bit of topaz and quartz for an overall healthy glow. After swiping, I use a foundation brush to blend.

On occasion (more likely in the winter) I like to apply blush. I tend to stay away from it in the summer, though, as the heat makes me look flushed most of the time.

Depending on the day, I finish off my look with either just mascara, or a bit of eyeliner. I switch back and forth, but my current favorite combo is my Almay mascara with Kat Von D tattoo liquid liner. Both are extremely easy to apply, and add a bit more definition. If I'm feeling really girly, I'll even add a pop of color to my lip (current favorite is Boxom Full-On Lip Polish in Kanani).

And that's really it. This is an incredibly easy application process (as you just read) and can be manipulated any way you'd like to your personal style. It's also very easy to glam-up for an evening date or event. I often use it as a basis and then add eye shadow or lipstick when I have something fancy to attend.
